What to Expect
During Your
Consultation

During a trichology consultation, several steps are typically involved to address your hair and scalp concerns effectively:

1.

Detailed Case History

We start by gathering a full background of your health, hair, and scalp history — including your current concerns, how they began, any previous treatments, medications, and relevant medical conditions.

2.

Scalp and Hair Assessment

A careful examination of your scalp and hair is carried out, assessing scalp condition, hair texture, density, and overall hair health. Microscopic analysis will also be used to identify specific scalp issues or patterns of hair loss.

3.

Lifestyle  Evaluation

We explore lifestyle factors such as your diet, stress levels, hair care practices, and any recent changes such as illness, medication use, or weight loss that could be influencing your hair and scalp health.

4.

Family History Discussion

Understanding your family history helps identify any genetic patterns that could be contributing to your hair or scalp concerns.

5.

Review of Medical
and Blood Test Results

Where available, we review relevant blood test results (such as iron, thyroid, hormone levels, or vitamin deficiencies) to support a more accurate diagnosis. We also consider symptoms related to eyes, nails, and dental health which can sometimes reflect internal imbalances affecting hair.

6.

Diagnosis, Plan and Personalised Advice

At the end of the consultation, I will explain my findings, offer a clear diagnosis where possible, and discuss a personalised treatment or management plan to help you achieve the best outcomes for your hair and scalp health. I offer personalised recommendations alongside education tailored to your specific hair and scalp needs for at home care, lifestyle modifications and medical referrals.

A trichology consultation offers more than answers, it provides clarity, reassurance, and a clear path forward. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of your hair and scalp health, along with tailored advice and practical solutions to help you manage and improve any concerns with confidence.
